Crane Customer Showcase: Bobby Fox’s LJ — Comfortable, Capable, and Ready for Anything

Crane Axle Customer Showcase: Bobby Fox’s LJ — Crane-Equipped, Trail-Proven, and Built for Every Terrain

Some builds stand out not because of flashy colors or wild styling, but because they’re built on the strongest foundation possible. For Bobby Fox, this build wasn’t about just adding parts — it was about choosing the right ones. And from the front diff cover to the rear unit bearings, Crane components are what make this LJ the dependable rig Bobby envisioned.

From extreme wheeling to family trail rides, Bobby wanted a rig that could do it all. With Crane 14-Bolt axles, Magnum Knuckles, 40-spline components, lightweight brakes, and Crane unit bearing systems, this LJ is the perfect example of why serious off-roaders trust Crane for their most capable builds. Now that Bobby’s LJ is complete, the result is a clean, capable, and absolutely trail-dominating machine.

We joined Bobby for his maiden outing at Adventure Off Road Park, watching the LJ work effortlessly across technical rock gardens and fast-flowing trails. The white-and-black color scheme is clean and balanced — but make no mistake: underneath that clean exterior is a full Crane Axle arsenal doing the heavy lifting.

At the heart of the LJ sits a naturally aspirated 402ci LT engine, delivering 550 horsepower. It’s backed by a TH400 transmission and an Atlas 4-speed transfer case running 1410 U-joints front and rear.

Although Crane components are the star of Bobby’s build, the supporting systems work hand-in-hand:

  • Radflo 2.0 x 14” Coilovers
  • Radflo 2.5 3-Tube Bypass Shocks
  • Radflo 2.0 Bump Stops
  • 1 ¼” Rod Ends
  • 7075 Aluminum Links

The chassis sits on a suspension system tuned to let the Crane axles cycle freely, maintain traction, and absorb impacts without upsetting balance.

Beneath the rig sits 3/8” 6061 aluminum skid plates, and in the rear is a custom low-mount aluminum fuel cell — all positioned to complement the high-clearance Crane housing geometry.

Inside the LJ, Bobby wanted comfort for long days with the family. The rig features:

  • PRP seats & 5.2 harnesses
  • KC lighting
  • Warn winch
  • Winters shifter

And thanks to the chassis design, the LJ can even accept a soft top — making it a capable four-season adventure rig. Bobby Fox’s LJ is more than a finished project — it’s a real-world demonstration of what a Crane Axle system can do when paired with proper engineering and quality components. It’s strong, smooth, predictable, and comfortable enough for long trail days with the family.
