The Crane Axle 40-Spline Dana 60 Drive Flange Kit replaces traditional locking hubs with a fixed drive flange built for high-abuse front axle applications. Designed for compatible GM and Ford Dana 60 wheel hubs using 40-spline outer axle shafts, this kit creates a direct mechanical connection between the axle shaft and wheel hub without the internal engagement mechanism of a locking hub.

The drive pucks are precision machined from heat-treated 8620 chromoly steel for strength and spline durability under extreme torque and shock loads. Black anodized 6061 aluminum caps feature an engraved Crane Axle logo and O-ring sealing to help protect the drive flange components from mud, water, and debris. For rock crawlers, rock bouncers, competition buggies, Ultra4 cars, and other 40-spline Dana 60 builds, this kit provides a simple, fully engaged wheel-end solution built around strength and reliability.

Tech Insight

A 40-spline Dana 60 wheel end is typically being built for one reason: strength. Using a traditional locking hub introduces an engagement mechanism between the axle shaft and wheel hub that is unnecessary on a dedicated off-road vehicle where the front axle does not need to be manually disconnected.

A fixed drive flange eliminates that mechanism and keeps the axle shaft mechanically connected to the wheel hub at all times. The heat-treated 8620 chromoly drive puck handles the torque transfer while the O-ring sealed aluminum cap protects the assembly from trail debris and contamination. For high-horsepower vehicles running large tires and upgraded 40-spline axle shafts, the drive flange keeps the wheel-end design simple and fully engaged.
