WOD Body Panel Trick Tabs with 1/4"-20 NutSerts (Set of 10)
WF03020-10N
The Wide Open Design Body Panel Tabs with 1/4"-20 NutSerts, commonly called Trick Tabs, provide a clean, threaded mounting point for body panels, dash components, light brackets, battery boxes, fuel cell mounts, and other removable accessories. The integrated NutSert allows a bolt to thread directly into the tab, eliminating loose nuts and making panel installation and removal faster.
Each weld-on tab is laser cut from 1/8" high-strength steel and formed into a winged profile that adapts well to round tubing, square tubing, and flat surfaces. Sold in packs of 10, these tabs are a practical solution for custom chassis, off-road vehicles, race cars, and fabrication projects where repeatable mounting and easy service access matter.

Fitment Notes:
- Universal weld-on fitment for custom fabrication projects.
- Commonly used for body panels, dash panels, roof skins, access covers, light brackets, and interior components.
- Can also be used for lightweight battery-box, fuel-cell, and accessory mounting when the load is appropriate for the tab and surrounding structure.
- The formed wings can be trimmed or adjusted during fabrication to match the mounting surface.
- Welding is required.
- Allow the tab and NutSert to cool naturally after welding to reduce the risk of heat damage or thread distortion.
- Use 1/4"-20 hardware of the correct length for the panel thickness and any spacers or isolators being installed.
- These tabs are intended for removable panels and light accessory mounting, not primary suspension, seat-belt, recovery, or other safety-critical loads.
FAQ
What are Trick Tabs used for?
Trick Tabs are commonly welded to chassis tubing or fabricated structures to create removable mounting points for body panels, dash panels, roof skins, access covers, light brackets, and other lightweight accessories.
What is the advantage of a tab with a NutSert?
The built-in NutSert provides permanent 1/4"-20 threads in the tab. This allows the panel to be installed and removed from one side without holding a loose nut behind the mounting surface.
Can these tabs be welded to different tube diameters?
Yes. The formed winged profile can be fitted to many round tube diameters and can also be used on square tubing or flat steel. Some trimming or reshaping may be needed for the exact surface.
Can I weld the tab with the NutSert already installed?
Yes, but heat should be controlled carefully. Use short welds, avoid directing excessive heat into the threaded insert, and allow the assembly to cool before installing hardware.
Are these tabs strong enough for seats, harnesses, or suspension mounts?
No. These tabs are intended for removable panels and appropriately sized lightweight accessories. Use purpose-built structural tabs and mounts for seats, harnesses, suspension components, recovery points, or other safety-critical applications.
