The GM 14-Bolt Steering Knuckle Builder Kit gives fabricators the major components needed to convert a GM 14-Bolt housing into a front steering axle. Designed by Crane Axle, this system combines the strength of the 14-Bolt center section with proven Dana 60 kingpin steering geometry for rock crawlers, competition buggies, rock bouncers, and extreme off-road axle builds.

The kit combines 8620 chromoly inner C’s and interlocking outer knuckles with keyed 1018 cold-rolled steel high-steer arms, kingpin components, and Crane Axle’s REV14 Seal System. The interlocking steering components help transfer steering loads through the knuckle assembly, while the internal seal system helps control gear oil and contamination in a front-steer 14-Bolt conversion.

What makes a GM 14-Bolt steering axle desirable?

The GM 14-Bolt center section is widely used in extreme off-road builds because of its strength, large ring gear, availability, and serviceability. Converting it into a steering axle allows builders to use that strength at the front of the vehicle while retaining Dana 60 kingpin-style steering components.

What does the REV14 Seal System do?

The REV14 Seal System provides an internal sealing solution for a front-steer 14-Bolt conversion. It helps contain gear oil within the center section while reducing the opportunity for dirt, mud, and water to enter through the axle tubes.

Why use interlocking high-steer arms and knuckles?

The keyed interlocking design helps transfer steering force into the knuckle body instead of relying only on bolt clamping force. This is especially important with large tires, high steering loads, and full-hydraulic steering systems.

Why are the inner C’s and knuckles made from 8620 chromoly?
