Crane Axle GM Dana 60 Front Steer Knuckle Kit
CA01024F
The Crane Axle GM Dana 60 Front Steer Knuckle Kit gives builders the major steering components needed to complete a heavy-duty front axle for rock crawlers, Ultra4 cars, rock bouncers, and custom tube chassis vehicles. Manufactured by Crane Axle, this package combines Dana 60 kingpin geometry with chromoly inner C’s, interlocking outer knuckles, keyed high-steer arms, and the required kingpin components.
The keyed interlocking steering arm system transfers steering force directly into the knuckle body instead of relying entirely on fastener clamping force. This creates a more rigid and serviceable steering platform for large tires, hydraulic steering systems, repeated suspension articulation, and severe off-road impacts.

Tech Insight
What makes the interlocking high-steer system different?
The keyed engagement surfaces mechanically connect the high-steer arm to the knuckle body. This allows steering load to be transferred through the interlocking surfaces rather than relying only on the clamping force of the mounting bolts.
Why use 8620 chromoly knuckles and inner C’s?
8620 chromoly provides a strong combination of impact resistance, toughness, and fatigue strength. These properties are especially important in front axle components exposed to large tires, hydraulic steering pressure, suspension articulation, and repeated trail impacts.
Is this kit designed for hydraulic steering?
Yes. The kit is well suited to hydraulic assist and full-hydraulic steering applications when the steering arms, cylinder, mounts, orbital valve, and remaining system components are properly matched.
Can the kit be used with a fabricated axle housing?
Yes. This package is commonly used on custom fabricated Dana 60 housings and other builder applications using compatible tube diameters and Dana 60 kingpin geometry.
Does this kit include everything needed for a complete axle?
No. This is a knuckle builder kit containing the primary inner C, outer knuckle, high-steer, kingpin, and hardware components. Axle tubes, shafts, U-joints, wheel hubs, spindles, brakes, steering components, and the center housing must be selected separately.
