This Dana 44 Dura Grip spider gear replacement kit is designed specifically for Yukon Dura Grip positraction differentials running 30 spline axle shafts. Over time, spider gears inside clutch-style limited slip differentials can wear from aggressive tire loads, off-road use, towing, or high horsepower applications. This replacement kit restores internal gear integrity while maintaining the functionality of the Yukon Dura Grip limited slip carrier.

Dana 44 axles are commonly found in classic trucks, Jeeps, muscle cars, and off-road vehicles where positraction differentials help improve traction without sacrificing predictable drivability.

Tech Insight 

Clutch-style positraction differentials rely on properly matched spider gears and side gears to distribute torque smoothly between both axle shafts. When internal gears become worn, limited slip performance can degrade rapidly, leading to excessive backlash, chatter, uneven engagement, or complete differential failure.

The Yukon Dura Grip differential uses a clutch-driven limited slip design that offers improved street manners and traction compared to a full mechanical locker. Replacing worn spider gears during a rebuild helps maintain proper carrier preload, gear engagement, and long-term reliability — especially in heavy off-road vehicles, towing applications, and high-traction builds running oversized tires.
