Tech Insight

The JK Rubicon Dana 44 rear axle is commonly upgraded with larger tires, deeper gear ratios, and locking differentials, all of which increase load on the carrier bearings, pinion bearings, and gear setup components. During gear installation or differential service, replacing worn setup components is critical to maintaining proper backlash and preload.

Reusing old bearings or crush sleeves during a rebuild can introduce gear noise, inconsistent preload, and premature bearing wear. A complete overhaul kit allows the differential to be reset using fresh bearings, races, seals, and shims to help ensure long-term durability in both street-driven and off-road applications.
