The Wilwood High-Volume Aluminum Master Cylinder is engineered for demanding braking systems that require maximum fluid capacity, extended piston travel, and consistent pedal feel, especially when paired with large four- or six-piston calipers. Unlike traditional sand-cast master cylinders, Wilwood’s die-cast construction allows the bore to be finished without a stainless sleeve. This results in better heat dissipation, improved seal life, tighter tolerances, and reduced internal temperatures.

With a total fluid capacity of 8.2 ounces, this design provides at least 26% more fluid volume than most competing integral-reservoir master cylinders. A 1-7/16 piston stroke delivers ample margin for high-displacement caliper systems. Heavy-duty internal return springs ensure fast piston retraction, while an internal slosh baffle maintains constant fluid supply during hard braking, acceleration, and cornering.

Tech Insight

The High-Volume Master Cylinder is purpose-built for extreme braking environments. Its die-cast aluminum bore eliminates the heat retention and wear issues found in stainless-sleeved sand-cast designs, while the increased fluid capacity helps prevent pedal fade during long events. The internal slosh baffle and heavy-duty return springs improve pedal consistency, speed up fluid recovery, and simplify bleeding—making this an excellent choice for endurance racing, off-road competition, and high-piston-count brake systems.
