What does the Revolution 40-spline seal system do?
The system replaces the factory carrier bearing preload spanners with machined seal housings that create an internal axle seal location. This allows a GM 14-Bolt differential to be configured for 40-spline steering axle use while helping contain gear oil and keep contamination out of the housing.
Why are the seals positioned near the differential?
Axle shaft movement is reduced closer to the differential compared with farther out in the axle tube. Positioning the seal in this area creates a more stable sealing surface and helps improve long-term seal performance in steering axle applications.
Why are axle guides included?
The larger 40-spline axle shafts can be difficult to guide through an internal seal during assembly. The included axle guides help center the shaft as it passes through the seal, reducing the chance of cutting, folding, or damaging the sealing lip.
Does this kit require machining?
No. The Revolution system is designed as a direct replacement for the factory carrier bearing preload spanners in properly configured GM 14-Bolt steering axle assemblies.
Can this kit be used in a rear-steer GM 14-Bolt?
Yes. The seal system is designed around steering axle use and can be used in either front-steer or rear-steer applications as long as the axle is built around the compatible 40-spline GM 14-Bolt configuration.
Will this kit work with 30-spline or 35-spline axle shafts?
No. This version is specifically designed for 40-spline axle shaft applications. The 30/35-spline Revolution 14 seal kit is sold separately.
