The Crane Axle GM 14-Bolt 30-Spline Billet Spindle & Aluminum Hub Kit combines our 4140 billet spindles, 6061 billet aluminum wheel hubs, wheel bearings, seals, and spindle hardware into one complete wheel-end package for custom GM 14-Bolt full-float axle builds. Instead of sourcing each component separately, builders get a matched package designed around the proven OE-style GM 14-Bolt spindle and wheel bearing system.

The 4140 billet spindles provide a strong, precision-machined foundation for factory and fabricated axle housings, while the aluminum hubs remove rotating and unsprung weight compared with heavy factory-style hubs. The included bearings, races, seals, and spindle nut hardware complete the package with serviceable components that make sense for rock crawlers, rock bouncers, Ultra4 cars, trail buggies, and other high-performance 14-Bolt axle builds.

Includes:

  • (2) Crane Axle GM 14-Bolt 30-Spline 4140 Billet Spindles
  • (2) Spindle Nut Spacers
  • (2) Crane Axle GM 14-Bolt 30-Spline 6061 Billet Aluminum Wheel Hubs
  • (2) Inner Wheel Bearings & Races
  • (2) Outer Wheel Bearings & Races

FAQ

What is included in this GM 14-Bolt wheel-end kit?

This package includes the billet spindles, aluminum wheel hubs, inner and outer wheel bearings and races, axle seals, spindle nut spacers, and spindle nut hardware required for both sides of the axle. It gives builders the major spindle-to-hub components needed to assemble a GM 14-Bolt full-float rear wheel end.

Why use aluminum hubs instead of factory GM 14-Bolt hubs?

The Crane Axle 6061 billet aluminum hubs reduce rotating and unsprung weight compared with heavy factory-style hubs. Reducing wheel-end mass helps the suspension react more effectively while decreasing the mass the drivetrain has to accelerate and the brakes have to slow down.

What is the advantage of the Crane Axle 4140 billet spindles?

Crane Axle machines these spindles from solid 4140 billet steel rather than relying on used factory cast spindles. This provides a new, dimensionally consistent spindle foundation for fabricated and high-abuse axle builds while retaining the serviceability of OE-style GM 14-Bolt bearings and seals.

Are the wheel bearing races already installed?

Yes. The bearing races are pre-installed in the Crane Axle aluminum wheel hubs. The kit also includes the matching inner and outer wheel bearings and axle seals for both wheel ends.

Is a 30-spline GM 14-Bolt axle shaft smaller than a 35-spline axle shaft?

No. Spline count alone does not determine axle shaft diameter. A factory-style GM 14-Bolt 30-spline axle shaft is approximately 1.550" in diameter, while the common aftermarket 35-spline shaft is approximately 1.500". This is why comparing axle strength based only on spline count can be misleading.

Does this kit include axle shafts?

No. Axle shafts are sold separately. This wheel-end package is designed around a 30-spline GM 14-Bolt configuration, so axle shaft length, spline configuration, differential compatibility, and overall axle width must be determined for the individual build.

Does this kit include brakes?

No. Brake components are sold separately. This allows the builder to select a brake package based on vehicle weight, wheel size, intended use, and the complete axle configuration.

Can this kit be used with a fabricated axle housing?

Yes. The billet spindles feature a 3.00" outside diameter and can be used with custom fabricated axle housings with up to a 3.00" I.D. bore. A common combination is 4.00" OD x .500" wall axle tubing.
