Yukon Dana 44 Grizzly Locker - 30 Spline, 3.73 & Down
YUKYGLD44-3-30
The Yukon Dana 44 Grizzly Locker is a full mechanical automatic locking differential designed for 30 spline Dana 44 axle applications using 3.73 and numerically lower gear ratios. Dana 44 axles are widely used across Jeep, Ford, GM, Dodge, and International platforms, making them one of the most common upgrade candidates for automatic lockers.
The Grizzly Locker uses large internal locking teeth, a heavy-duty forged case design, and hardened 8620 internals to improve strength and shock-load resistance in demanding off-road environments. This unit is intended for 3.73 and lower carrier breaks or thick gear applications and is drilled for 7/16" ring gear bolts. Applications using 3/8" bolts require Yukon ring gear bolt sleeves.

- Dana 44 Grizzly Mechanical Locker Assembly
- Internal locking components
- Assembled carrier unit
Note:
- Fits 30 spline Dana 44 applications only
- Designed for 3.73 and numerically lower ratios

Fitment Notes:
- Fits Dana 44 front and rear axle applications depending on vehicle configuration
- Compatible with standard rotation, reverse rotation, and select Dana 44 IFS applications
- Some Ford IFS applications require Yukon spring kit YSPSPR-001
- Applications using 3/8" bolts require Yukon YSPBLT-027 sleeves
- Verify carrier break, spline count, and ring gear bolt size before ordering
- Thick gears may be required in certain ratio combinations
- Thick gears may be required depending on gear ratio setup
Tech Insight
Is this locker good for street driving?
It can be driven on the street, but it will not behave like an open differential. Some clicking, popping, tire scrub, or driveline feedback can be normal with automatic lockers. This locker is best suited for off-road traction, trail rigs, crawlers, and aggressive-use vehicles.
Is a Grizzly Locker selectable?
No. The Yukon Grizzly Locker is an automatic mechanical locker. It does not use air lines, wiring, switches, or compressors.
Does this locker replace the carrier?
Yes. This is a full-case locker that replaces the differential carrier assembly. It is not a lunchbox locker that installs inside the factory open carrier.
Do I need ring gear bolt sleeves?
If your Dana 44 ring gear uses 3/8-inch bolts, yes. This locker is drilled for 7/16-inch ring gear bolts, so 3/8-inch bolt applications require Yukon YSPBLT-027 sleeves.
Does this work with thick gears?
Yes, this locker may be used with thick gears in certain ratio combinations. Thick gears are commonly used to run numerically higher ratios on a numerically lower carrier break. Verify your gear set before ordering.
Will this fit my Jeep Dana 44?
It may fit Jeep Dana 44 applications if the axle uses 30-spline shafts and the correct 3.73 & down carrier break or thick gear setup. Always verify spline count, gear ratio, carrier break, and ring gear bolt size before ordering.
