System Type

The PSC Jeep Wrangler JK 3.6L Power Steering Pump Kit 2012-2018 supplies increased hydraulic flow for 2012–2018 Wrangler JK and JKU 3.6L steering upgrades, particularly during low-RPM trail driving with larger tires. The remote reservoir, filtered fluid supply, cooling components, and matched pump help builders support the steering system as a complete hydraulic circuit.

Choose PK36JP1 for a conventional steering gearbox or cylinder-assist layout, or PK36JP1-FH for a full hydraulic system using a compatible control valve and cylinder. The packages use different pumps, reservoir plumbing, and belts, so the full hydraulic option is not simply an interchangeable spare for the assist package. Both require careful mounting, pulley alignment, hose routing, and bleeding. PSC states that the included steering cooler must be installed.

FAQs

What changes with the full hydraulic option?

PK36JP1 uses SP43362J-2402 and a 90.5-inch belt. PK36JP1-FH uses SP43352J-2402, a different reservoir/feed arrangement, and a 90-inch belt. Select the option for the actual steering architecture.

What is this kit designed to be used for?

Supplies increased hydraulic flow for 2012–2018 Wrangler JK and JKU 3.6L steering upgrades, particularly during low-RPM trail driving with larger tires. The remote reservoir, filtered fluid supply, cooling components, and matched pump help builders support the steering system as a complete hydraulic circuit.

What installation checks matter most?

Verify the installed engine accessory drive, pump bracket, pulley alignment, and belt compatibility before final assembly. Keep hydraulic hoses clear of exhaust heat, moving components, sharp edges, and pinch points.

What is included with this SKU?

The Includes section identifies the listed package contents. Where options are offered, choose the matching model year or steering system; do not assume components listed for a different SKU are supplied.

How should the hydraulic system be prepared?

Follow PSC’s installation procedure for system flushing, approved fluid, and thorough bleeding. Confirm hose connections and inspect for leaks before loading the steering system.

Why does steering fluid cooling matter on the trail?

Repeated high-load steering inputs generate heat in the hydraulic circuit. Install the supplied cooler where specified, or plan suitable cooling according to PSC’s recommendations for the complete system.
